Fair Weather Fans ?

Are we fair weather fans? Well I pose this to you, why is there maybe half or three quarters of the stands full. Look, when our perspective teams are doing well we pack the stands and not when they are sucking. Well, right now alot of teams are sucking and not much chance of change either. Lets look at it. The Kansas City Chiefs have had a sell out for several years now and this year after the beginning of the season, not so much. One of the local tv stations are buying up the tickets to broadcast it. Why you say, well hell they make a ton of money to broadcast it. Even though we are not out at the stadium watching, we are watching at home. The advertising goes way up for this game. I think if I am not mistaken they get some compensation from the league for the televised games also. From the network or the NFL one or the other. So as I sit and watch a pathetic team, in the chiefs, play a horrific game, when it ended they went to the NY Jets game. I could almost count on two hands the people in the stands. It looked like a ghost town. You think for one second the stands are filled in Miami. Well, if they are it is because they are wanting to see the run the tables in reverse. We will get to that later. So, guess what, Queen Carl, your 5 year plan is up, that was about 15 years ago. You did what you wanted and that was to fill the seats. Now your fans are on to you. Put a team, worth spending $100.oo a person, on the field and they might return. Until then they won't be back. You have had your run and it is time for you to move on. I retract what I might have said earlier, you don't need to be in charge of shit, advertising, marketing, anything. Take your bags and move to another city and drain them of their hard earned dollars on a pipe dream. It is not happening here anymore. If anyone is reading and you have tickets to the last remaining game at Arrowhead, stay home. I would love to see about 500 people show up and that is it. No that was not a misprint, or a fat finger, I said it, 500 people in the stands. Don't be giving those greedy, lying bastards anymore of our hard earned money. They need to put something on the field worth watching, let alone spending a couple hundred bucks on going to the game. I can stay at home or go to the bar to watch it and increase the economy. That would be better for everyone, not just the QUEEN.

Now on to the the horrific game, or so called game. After the game I hear something from our head coach that I could not believe. He was pissed at the defense, are you freaking serious. They are on the verge of turning on you Herm baby. You think that there is only one side of the damn ball. I don't think so, not in the least bit. This defense has kept your inept ass in several games for you and your damn Coordinator to loose it for them. You think that these men are going to keep going out and killing themselves for you to lose it for them. Look, I know, I have heard it all before and I am not buying in at all. Defense might help to win the championship, but not without scoring. Are you trying to tell me that if you have a 25 game winning pitcher for you he can win by himself. If he only gives up 1 friggin run and you can't score ANY, guess what dumbass, you still loose. If you hit every green in regulation, and you 3, or 4 putt, guess what dumbass, you won't win a jacket. Do I need to give you more examples. I did not think so. I know you have a decent defense and it is good enough to win with, hell you might even win a silver football. However if you can't score, if you can't putt, if you can't hit the ball, you won't win dumbass. Who is the dumbass, well there is several of you out there on this team. Now you stick a kid out there at the QB spot to get his flippin brains scrambled. Take another one out on a stretcher. Bitch at your defense, the only thing keeping you within 3 points. You really don't think it was you or your damn play calling do you. If this is what your are thinking then you have lost your mind. You are no longer in touch with reality. You have lost the last bit of sanity. I can only hope that with your #4 or #5 draft pick that you, Queen Carl don't have another bust. I will give you a hint you don't need another running back, you don't need another linebacker to turn into a halfback. You need a line. Look around you DUMBASS, the Denver Broncos can stick anyone in as running back and gain a 100+ yards a game. They have done it year in and year out for how many years. You think it is that they are that damn lucky, I don't think so. Not hardly, they have a line. You think that the Patroits have a hall of fame running back, did Green Bay, did Indianapolis, did San Fran? No, none of them did. Now that is not to say that Craig with San Fran was not good, that is not to say that Malony is not good, and the list goes on, but are any of them hall worthy. Hell no, they aren't. Yet they all managed to win the big ones, did they not. There is one exception to this rule. Emmit Smith, and yet he was willing to take a pay cut for the team. Do you have a guy like this, no you have one that you sunk all your money into and has done absolutely nothing this year. Oh he got paid and has done nothing. If he gets healed, guess what, with the friggin line you have he is going to get hurt again, and again and again. Just like your new QB is going to get. Look Len Dawson said it best, Croyle did not have a cast or anything after the game so that is a good thing. That was the only thing the hall of famer could come up with good. Croyle did not have a cast on when he left the locker room. You should be proud Herm and Carl.

Ok, now, those of you who have been coming by here know that I am pulling for the Dolphins to run the tables in reverse. They are about there, we all need to pull together here and root for them. I thought that a week ago they was going to win one and that almost pissed me off. I almost threw a fit. There is one game left that is bothering me, Baltimore. This is a game that could go against all of us that is rooting for them. The record that has made it this long, will have to be erased from the books if they go win less. I don't care if the Pats do win out, I want the other record taken off the books if they go in reverse this year. This will no longer count, it can not count if you loose all 16. We are at 0 - 13 and I am getting excited. If they go 0 - 15 I am going to have a party to watch the last one. That one has to be Nationally televised doesn't it. I mean even if you are in Boston and the Pats are about to go 16 - 0, even you chowds, would want to see 0 - 16 more wouldn't you? Come on, don't you lie to me, you want to see it don't you. Well, if it comes down to that, I am having the party. Hell, I might even get Sunday ticket for one damn game. It would so be worth it.

The Chiefs Tank Another One

Well once again the Chiefs tank another one. The return of Preist Holmes was the only exciting part of the game you might say. Guess what, he did no worse than Larry Johnson was doing. He averaged just over 3 yards per carry. The one thing that Priest did do was he did throw several nice blocks to help protect Huard. This is the one thing that the Chiefs need to be somewhat efficient in the passing game. Bowe had another couple of really nice catches and made a few plays. Brody Croyle comes in and has a so so showing. He had sharp passes and yeah he did have the one INT. Although being fair to him it takes some time to get going and really get accustomed to the action. This will take him several weeks for him to grasp this. As I wrote earlier Brett Favre and John Elway started both of their careers really shaky with interceptions. So there is more to rating a quarterback and how he did, in his first significant play time. He had 1 int and no tds. he was still able to move the team down the field twice one ended with a bonehead move on Preists' part and then you had the int. But in all he did not to bad start. Lets see if Herm will leave him in as the starter.

Ok, back to the part of the story that sparked this column. LJ wanted the big bucks and he has them and has not shown up yet. 559 total rushing yards and a 3.5 average per carry, not to mention he can not block. He can't even fall in front of someone and make them miss the QB. This is not exactly big money type numbers huh. Not in the least. So we bring in a man who has not played for two years, has not seen any significant NFL speed for two years. What does he do, well he averages just over 3 yards per carry and besides the one bonehead play at the 7 yard line and a loss of 14 yards. He does a nice job. All you have heard around this part of the country for that last week was, "oh my god what are we going to do without LJ?" Well it appears to me that you went out and layed an egg just like you have for the other 8 games. So to all redio shows in KC find something worth talking about, we have discussed this all weeka and like I have told several of you we would not be loosing anything and it has now become a reality. You have way bigger stories to report on and talk about. I have a feeling the BCS polls will give you something to complain about and run in the ground all week. Hey Chiefs, you let a team that was last in defense against the run and not good at all against the pass and has had no offense to speak of all year. Then you let them put a Bozo suit on you and you wore it well too, by the way. The defense let you down 4 times late in the game, letting the Denver receivers run rough shot over you most of the second half. up until that point the defense held their own, was getting good pressure on Cutler. Then all of a sudden you give up not on but 3 big plays in the secondary. You can not do this and win in the NFL, even with a really bad team. Hell I had the Chiefs winning all their remaining AFC West opponents. I guess that was a bad prediction huh. None the less the running back situation is not your problem kids in KC. The problem is you have no offense at all. I mean none, but hey LJ got what he wanted huh. You think that he is the type of player to recover and get back as quick as possible. Hell no, he got his guaranteed money. He gets paid to sit at home and eat nachos while watching this pathetic team get embarrassed.

This pic I think pretty much sums up the feel at Arrowhead once again. That was obvious from the empty seat half way through the fourth quarter. This is something you never use to see and now this is the second time in just
a few weeks that the seats are emptying out way before the game ends.
The mystique that was Arrowhead is gone and I think Queen Carl is about to figure that out and in a bad way. Maybe the new kid can get something sparked. Hey he can't do any worse. I mean Damon Played just over a half and through 2 Ints and Brody only threw one. We'll see I guess. Will be going over the rest of the league for a post tomorrow and the new BCS polls. And a new babe of the day, that might be the best part of a Blue Monday in KC.

National Championsip.....KU, MU?

Ku, football and national championship, the two don't really go together, right. Before you answer that question wait a minute and think about it. Kansas is 10 - 0 for the first time for over a hundred years. They are one of two teams left that are undefeated in college football. Hawaii is the other team that is undefeated and they probably won't be considered for any title game. Kansas on the other hand is and will be considered for the title game. Well, if and I did say if, they can get three more wins. So yes, they have to win 3 more games, but I think it is fair to start talking about the possibility that Mangino could have them playing for all the freaking marbles. They went to Oklahoma State and from the beginning looked as though they had a chance against arguably one of the better offenses in the league. They stayed in the game the whole time and matched them score for score and then in the third quarter they pulled away for good. Oh sure, the cowboys tried to rally and come back, only one problem they could not stop Kansas and their offense. The Kansas defense is playing better and better and with the one two punch with the offense these kids are for real. I think, even though I hate to admit it, it is time to start giving these kids the respect they have earned. Their next game at Iowa State should be a given. Then the last game against Missouri should be a dandy. If they can win that one and go to the big 12 championship title game. This is really shaping up quite nicely for them, all the stars are aligning and headed to Lawrence it would appear. Hell, I might even quit Mangino jokes and rude statements. Only kidding kids, don't freak out on me yet.

With the loss of Ohio State, Mizzou actually has a chance also. Before you leave listen up kids. If KU goes into Arrowhead undefeated, and Mizzou with the one loss to OU ,and the tigers can come out of that game with a victory, and beats Presumably OU in the big 12 championship? Yeah, they could be playing for the championship game. You see the better KU does the higher they will be ranked when the two teams meet, in KC. That is helping MU's cause tremendously. This is a really exciting time in the big 12 this year. Mizzou has their senior day at Columbia and they exchange punches with A&M and then the A&M defense just could not cover all the weapons the tigers have. Chase Daniel is have a whopping year and hitting everyone he throws to. It seems that him and Chase Coffman has this little thing in the back of the end zone going. He has hit him in almost the exact same part of the end zone in two consecutive games now. Temple seems to be back 100% from his injury. The tigers are looking extremely well on offense. The defense is what we all questioned at the beginning of the year. They are looking like a complete team on both sides of the ball. We have not seen the coach have one of his great days. Great days I mean, he has not had a stroke and unable to coach and forget what got them where they are at this point. So anything is possible with them yet this season. Yet this is my team I root for the loudest, but I am starting to feel like a KU fan here all of a sudden. Hell I found myself yelling at the tv while watching the boys on national tv. Scaring the hell out of cats, dogs, kids, and my wife once I think. Lets all in the area, jump on that big 12 band wagon and have a little fun huh. Lets ride that puppy all the way to the National Championship game.

In the end I would like to also say way to go Nebraska. What in the hell got into them all of a sudden. Where in the hell has that team been all year. You know that is going to be along trip home for K-State. The wildcats went up there and got a royal ass whipping put on them like none other. Everyone has beat Nebraska, how in the hell does a team , that I WAS giving a little credit to for maybe turning the corner, forget how to tackle, run pass. Pretty much all aspects of the game of football. Hey I am rooting for both of them right now also. The more they win and the bigger they win, the better Mu and KU both look, to those damn computers. Who is running those friggin' things. Anyone ever figure out how those things work. Who designed that damn program. Not only does crack kill but it also causes you to make up crazy ass computer programs to rank football teams with.

OK, come on Sunday lets get to the NFL. See you all back here tomorrow.

What a year in Football

Well here we go with another year of some great football, We have the hoodie stealing signals, Three Big 12 teams that could be playing for the National championship.

OU, KU, and my favorite, MU could all be playing for the national championship. Lets all take a look at this and think, yes in sports for time to time you have to think about stuff, LOL. Lets just say for conversations sake if KU should happen to win out, and by the way there has been no sign that they could not do this by the looks of the rest of their schedule, That would have to put them in the top 3. It could actually put them higher than that if the win the big 12 championship. It is safe to say that arguably they could be in the number 2 post playing for the nations top spot. Then again since MU has had the tougher schedule and if they win out and beat KU in the final game of the season, some say it could be them in the number 2 or 3 spot if they win the big 12. Then you have OU who is always going to be in the top 5 or even better. Wait a minute I am saying that KU's football team could be the nations best not in basketball but football. Have I lost my mind, I guess only time will tell huh. The fact that BC won a game in the last 2 minutes of a big game I don't feel that they should have won, a lucky, yes lucky onside kick was won. This sealed the game. That being said they did win and that is the bottom line. they was beat the whole game right up till that last ditch at a win or a prayer. Well the prayer was answered, and they won. Yet the Qb is still considered because of that game to be a Heisman candidate, WHAT, how in the hell can you say that, what did he prior to that, actually nothing. Then again it is a great story for the media though huh.

OK enough of the college game and now to a story from the high school ranks. I hope you are sitting down. A small Kansas high school team is making some big noise in Kansas High school. they recently set a new record for point son one game, Here we go, are you ready. 72-o yes 72-0...Oh I forgot to tell you that was the 1st quarter score, the freaking first quarter score. What the hell was that about. The game ended in a 83 -0 final. They have this year outscored their opponents, are you ready, 640 - 0. No that is not a typo, 640 - 0. How in the hell do you score that many points in 8 games. Do the math that is almost 80 points a game. What the hell is the other teams doing. Well apparently nothing huh. They are the state champs, not to insult your intelligence, but yes they will probably keep that title this year.

OK, now some baseball, I know the season is over but listen to this. Grady Little had resigned as the LA Dodgers skipper. Why did he retire, well it seems the club has been interviewing other men for his job. It has been reported that Yankees former skipper will be taking the job. My question is, how do you interview for the job when you have that position filled already. Why would you not just let him go and then find his replacement. That is a real kick in the balls if you ask me. Joe Torre' is most likely going to take the job. So yeah he resigned, or did he. What would you do. I know what I would do. Look all you have to do is say look, we did not reach our expectations for this year, we are holding you responsible for the collapse of the team in that last bit of the year, letting the ROCKIES in the playoffs. We will not be needing your services next year and pay him off and go on. Would have showed alot more stones than the way they did it. Pretty shitty if you ask me.

Have a great rest of the week and tune in later for more great stories in the world of sports.

Tom (Freakin') Brady

Can you believe this guy. He throws for three touches and then he rushes in twice also. They put up 52 points on what some people might say is on of the best cover teams in the league. Not quite so today huh. So I pose this question to you, are the Pats running up the score on their opponents. It sure the hell looks like it today huh. They went 2 for 2 on 4th downs. If your not running up the score then why in the hell are going for it on fourth downs. Ok I know the old man is going to say hey the game is not over until it is over. Ok enough coach. Just admit you are pissed off about getting caught cheating and stealing signals and now you are going to put the attention on something else. Like you are beating people like tied dogs, or rented mules. "Cheated huh, here take 52 home with you." I don't think they are cheating right now at all. Besides how many people in the NFL are not trying to steal signals. Well maybe not filming them anyway. You know I think that if they was videoing the signals then they would have to figure out the signals. I mean you know if they was getting the signals, was they only giving one signal or was they giving several or was they doing what they do in baseball and give an indicator signal first. You know that, they have to touch their nose first or the signal means nothing, then touch the nose then the next signal is the actual play. It would take awhile to figure it all out and be able to use it, I say anyway.

Regardless, the Patriots are killing people right now. I guess maybe the NFL should not accuse them of stealing signals again huh. Now there is no way right now to beat them I don't think. I guess if there is going to be a test then it will be on the 4th of November when the last 2 remaining undefeated teams play together. After watching all the games I have watched his year. Is there anyone in the NFC to beat them. I think next week will be the real Super Bowl.

Ok Back to Brady, this guy is unbelievable. He is on pace to not only break the records, but who in the hell is going to break them in the future. I mean Peyton had a great year to break Marinos' record now Brady is going to shatter that one. I know records are made to be broken but my lord. This guy is going to set it so damn high maybe even he won't be able to break them. This record may be the one to stand for a long long time boys and girls. This guy is lights out in a big way. And the whole team has stones to stand up and put these kind of numbers up every week. Look at the defense right now. Look they had a semi good defense and now they are even playing better. I mean better enough to hold teams to a single score or less, this might be the one most balanced team in history. Tom Laundry had a few well balanced teams, but I don't think that even Tom Laundry would be envious of this team. I know a friend of mine is about to start his Super Bowl celebration going any day now. Way to go umpire in chief, Tom Bradys' biggest fan.

Are you Kidding me

Look I know I live in small town USA. OK actually small town Missouri. I know KU has a good basketball team, hell they might even have a great checkers team. Football team though? Well they do have a good football team. Now I know you are saying what, I said in the beginning of the year. They have a powder puff non conference schedule. Well here is a thought, Maybe Mangino did just what he needed to do. The team has the confidence to beat about anyone right now. Yes I know they stayed home for the first 4 games and they was high school at best competition. Yet I believe that it has given them the confidence they needed to get to where they are right now. Where are they, they are #9 On the BCS ranking. I know the BCS ranking does not mean anything right now, Basically it is a bunch of virus and trojan infected computers that do the ranking. But hey, they are #9. This is the system that they have to go with, and they are going with it and in a big way. This team was not even on the radar in years past.

Not only does Mangino have more chins than China , and he is always good for some soundbites, but he also has his team playing with more heart than anyone in the country right now. Say what you want , but the man has them playing really good right now and has been all year. If the Jayhawks continue to win, hell they might be in San Antonio this New Year. I mean really come on for god sakes the Jayhawks playing football in the new year.

Well hold on boys and girls it might just happen this year. Not only might it happen, but it will be deserving also. I do however thinks until the A&M game might have been ranked a little high. In all honesty, their neighbor MU has played a bigger and tougher non conference schedule and they played a really tough Ranked team in OU, and held their own. So yeah arguably MU could or should be ranked higher than KU. Missouri wins again on Saturday and not by a low score either once again they win big. No they did not cover the points but they won pretty big. KU wins also, not big or maybe even real pretty, but they won. They have not had a year like this 8-0 since 1909. Ok boys and girls that is a long time. A really long time.

So I say again, Are you kidding me..
